What does this mean for you as a researcher?
If you are supported by NIH funding for your project (with an application on or after January 25, 2023), then you are required to prospectively submit a data management plan with your funding application, as well as ensure that the plan which was submitted and accepted is followed appropriately. Future funding can be impacted if you are found to be in non-compliance.
What types of research projects are subject to the NIH DMS policy?
All projects which meet the 3 following criteria are subject to the policy:
❖ Application with Receipt Dates on or after January 25, 2023What about other NIH data sharing policies, like the Genomic Data Sharing Policy or the 2003 Data Sharing Policy?
Your research may be subject to other data management and sharing policies, including through the NIH, Ohio State, and other funding sources or publishers.
