"We Are the Youth is an ongoing photographic journalism project chronicling the individual stories of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer youth in the United States. Through photographic portraits and “as told to” interviews in the participants’ own voices, We Are the Youth captures the incredible diversity and uniqueness among the LGBTQ youth population. We Are the Youth addresses the lack of visibility of LGBTQ young people by providing a space to share stories in an honest and respectful way."

"This photography project was launched because as a photographer, Sarah wanted to explore the labels that we use when we define our sexuality and gender. In January 2014, Sarah Deragon posted a photo Facebook with the words, "Queer Femme," and The Identity Project was born. "

"States of Union and is comprised of a series of color portrait photographs of same-sex families. These photographs create an artistic record of a heretofore not widely seen family life. In these portraits I broaden the idea of family to include social units not generally recognized by society at large. “Family” in States of Union, may be as few as two individuals who are in a committed relationship and live as a social unit. These units may include pets and may have biological, fostered, or adopted children."

"The goal of “First Comes Love” is to provide a glimpse into the “everyday” lives of LGBTQ couples who have been in their relationships for 10, 20, 30, 40 and even 50 years! Unlike the stereotypical picture painted by the media, these portraits and stories seek to educate those who question, celebrate those who have loving, devoted relationships, and provide an historical record of the strength of this community."

"Director's Statement: Premiering on National Coming Out Day, we hope this piece inspires hope and self-acceptance. We partnered with New York Choreographic Institute Alumni Adriana Pierce, New York City Ballet Soloist Georgina Pazcoguin and Broadway dancer Skye Mattox to create this piece. Our goal is to expand LGBTQ representation in the ballet world where such portrayals are rarely seen."

Sometimes, curators and archivists collected objects for a specific reason that later turned out to have LGBTQ+ connections... "The Stonewall National Museum and Archives (SNMA) is one of the largest gay archives and libraries in the United States, now almost 50 years old. However, we have no direct link to the Stonewall Riots in New York in 1969. When we were founded in 1972, the founder Mark Silber used the name “Stonewall” to recognize the fight for LGBTQ liberation that began at the Stonewall Inn in 1969. It was a name with meaning then and it has become nearly synonymous with gay liberation efforts since that time."
