What is EndNote Basic?

EndNote is a research management tool that you can use to collect, organize, share, and cite your references.  It is available in both desktop and web-based versions.


EndNote Basic is a limited, web-based version of EndNote.

  • Collect, organize, and store the citations you are using in your research
  • Access your account from any computer by logging into the system
  • The EndNote Cite-While-You-Write program for Word and Pages is available for download.
  • Storage is limited to 50,000 references and 2GB of attachments.
  • PDFs cannot be viewed or annotated in-program and collaboration capabilities are limited.

EndNote Basic is free to use. Register with an OSU-provided email address (such as your name.#@osu.edu) to get started:
